Fable Whiskey Chapter 2 Folk is from Linkwood distillery 12 years single malt at 58.7 %

Scent: Barley sugar with apples and banana, followed by apricot and peach. A distinct fragrant aroma of lemon peel, with additional notes of ripe plums. With a few drops of water, more delicious notes emerge with ripe melon, guava, faint all spice.

Taste: Sweet and soft with lots of fruit and acid, lemon, mint, cinnamon and green tea. lemon cake and dried pineapple.

Aftertaste: Green grapes, kiwi, cinnamon, fresh green apple skin. Short – medium length with a clean freshness.

Linkwood Distillery

It is not without reason that whiskey blenders and malt whiskey connoisseurs worldwide value Linkwood whisky. With its long fermentation of wort and slow distillation, it gives a very deep and elegant taste of malt.

The distillery is located on the outskirts of the town of Elgin in the Speyside region. It was established in 1821 on the Linkwood Estate, but only started production in 1824 – the year distilling became legal with a license in hand – and ran pretty much continuously until 1996, when it was shut down and all production moved to the new distillery which was built in 1971. In 2013 the old distillery was demolished as part of the upgrade of the new distillery.

Today, they have a production capacity of up to 5.6 million liters per year. And the style they created back in 1824 is still the style they have today.

One of the slightly funnier and more interesting stories: Distillery Manager from 1946-63, Roderick Mackenzie was of the opinion that nothing should be changed or moved as it could affect the production and taste of the whisky. Even spider webs were protected - nothing was allowed to be touched. Whether it had an impact is not known, but it has been observed during the time he had the job.
